  • Travel Bookings:

Firstly, and most importantly, we use your personal data to create and process your online travel bookings – essential for providing this service. This includes sending booking confirmations, change confirmations, and reminders. In some cases, it also involves processing your data for online check-in via the travel provider or handling potential damage deposit issues.

  • Customer Service:

  • Account Features:

Users can create accounts on our website or app. We use your personal data to manage these accounts, enabling access to useful features. Easily manage orders, access special offers, make bookings, and personalise settings.

  • Online Groups:

Online Groups: Account holders can connect and interact via online groups or forums, such as travel communities.

  • Marketing Activities:

We use your personal data for marketing activities, including:

    1. Using your contact information to send regular updates on travel products and services. You can easily unsubscribe from these marketing newsletters anytime by clicking the 'unsubscribe' link in any email or promotional material.
    2. Based on your information, we may display tailored offers and personalised content on our website, app, or third-party platforms (including social media). Some offers are directly bookable on our site or co-branded sites, while others are from third parties, including products we believe you'll find interesting.
    3. When you participate in promotions (e.g., sweepstakes, referral programmes, contests), only relevant data will be used to manage these activities.
  • Contacting You:

We may also contact you via email, chatbots, post, phone, or SMS. The method depends on your provided contact details. We process your communications for several reasons, including:

    1. Responding to and processing your requests or those related to your bookings. We offer various channels for exchanging information, making requests, and providing feedback or reviews for hotels or bookings made through us.

  • Market Research:

We occasionally invite customers to participate in market research. Please refer to the accompanying information to understand what personal data we collect and how it's used.

We analyse personal data to enhance product services, continually improving quality and user experience. This involves using data for testing, troubleshooting, and business analytics to understand service performance and user behaviour. Our ultimate goal is to optimise and personalise our website and app, offering more convenient and practical services. We strive to use de-identified, anonymous personal data for this analysis.

  • Location-Based Best Prices:

When you search on our app or website, for instance, to book accommodation, we process your IP address to determine if you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or another country. This helps us provide optimal pricing based on your region (EEA or non-EEA).

  • Customer Reviews and Destination Information:

During or after your trip, we may invite you to submit a review. We might also ask your travel companions or the actual travellers for whom you booked. This includes providing details about the travel provider or destination. By submitting a review, you consent to its display on our site's travel provider pages, our mobile app, social media, the provider's platform, or partner websites. Reviews help other travellers understand your experiences, destinations, and shared quality insights.

  • Call Management:

When you call customer service, we use automatic phone number detection to locate your booking, saving time. Our staff may still verify your identity for data security. Calls may be monitored or recorded for quality control, training, complaint handling, legal claims, and fraud detection. Not all calls are recorded. Recorded calls are automatically deleted after a period, unless retention is necessary for fraud investigation or legal purposes. More details below.

  • Providing Secure and Trustworthy Services:

To ensure a trustworthy environment for you and fellow travellers, we partner with businesses and travel providers. We continuously analyse and use personal data to detect and prevent online/offline fraud, misconduct, and unauthorised activities. We also use personal data for risk assessment and security, such as when you report concerns or require identity/booking verification. This may lead to terminating or suspending bookings until assessments are complete.

  • Legal Purposes:

Finally, we may use your data to address legal requests, disputes, judicial investigations, regulatory compliance, enforce our terms of service, or comply with law enforcement. You decide whether to provide personal data. However, providing only partial data may limit service access; for instance, without contact details, we cannot process your booking. If automated data processing has legal or significant impacts, we will safeguard your rights and freedoms, including the right to human intervention.

For the above purposes, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:

For purposes A and B, where applicable, we must use your personal data to fulfil contractual obligations, particularly for completing and processing your travel bookings.

Failure to provide required personal data means we cannot complete your travel booking or offer customer service. For purposes C to L, we (or third parties) rely on legitimate interests to provide and improve services, and prevent fraud and misconduct (as further detailed under C to L).

When using your personal data for our or a third party's legitimate interests, we balance your data security rights and interests with ours or the third party's. For purpose M, we rely on the applicable legal basis for compliance obligations (e.g., law enforcement requests).

Finally, if required by law, we will only provide your personal data to the extent legally mandated, such as for law enforcement or other legal requirements.

When you use our online services or app, we use Cookies and other tracking technologies (referred to as 'cookies' in this statement).

We use Cookies in various ways: for website operations, traffic analysis, or advertising.

For more on what cookies are, how they're used, and your settings, please read below.

Web browser Cookies are tiny text files websites store in your computer or mobile browser.

Cookies are categorised as 'first-party' and 'third-party':

  1. First-party Cookies are used by the domain owner, which is us. All Cookies we place are 'first-party Cookies'.
  2. Third-party Cookies are Cookies set by trusted partners, chosen by this site, on our domain. These may include social media, advertising, or security partners, among others.

They may place 'session Cookies' or 'persistent Cookies':

  1. Session Cookies only exist until you close your browser. Closing it ends the 'session,' and the Cookie is deleted.
  2. Persistent Cookies have varying lifespans, remaining on your device after browser closure. On our platform, we (or permitted third parties) aim for persistent Cookies with limited lifespans. However, for security or other exceptional reasons, we may extend a Cookie's lifespan if necessary.

Web browser Cookies may store information like your IP address, other identifying data, browser type, and digital service content you've viewed or interacted with. This helps them remember your preferences, online service settings, and analyse your usage.

Besides Cookies, we use similar tracking technologies. Our website, emails, and mobile app may contain tiny transparent image files or code lines that record your interaction with content. These include web beacons, scripts, tracking URLs, or SDKs:

  1. Web beacons have many names: web bugs, tracking bugs, tags, web tags, page tags, tracking pixels, pixel tags, 1x1 GIFs, or transparent image files. Essentially, a web beacon is a tiny, one-pixel image file sent to your computer via a web request in an app, ad, or HTML email. It gathers device data like type, OS, IP address, and visit time. Web beacons also maintain Cookie function, read browser cookie messages, or initiate Cookie placement.
  2. Scripts are small computer programs embedded on our web pages, enabling extensive additional functionalities. Scripts ensure proper website operation, activating security features and basic interactive functions. They also serve analytics or advertising purposes, collecting data on your site usage, like visited pages or search queries.
  3. Tracking URLs are links with unique identifying information, used to track which website directed you to our site or app. For instance, from which social media page, search engine, or marketing affiliate partner's page you clicked to reach us.
  4. Software Development Kits (SDKs) are parts of our app's source code. Unlike browser Cookies, SDK data is stored within the app's space. SDKs analyse app usage or send personalised notifications by recording unique device identifiers like device ID, IP address, app activity logs, and network connection location.

In this Cookie Statement, all above tracking technologies are collectively referred to as Cookies.

How is Cookie technology used?

Information collected using Cookies includes:

  • IP Address
  • Device ID
  • Pages viewed
  • Browser type
  • Browsing information
  • Operating system
  • Internet Service Provider
  • Timestamp
  • Did you respond to an ad?
  • Referral URL
  • Website/app features or activities used

Cookies identify you as the same user when you browse different pages on our website or use our app across devices. They serve three types: functional, analytical, and commercial.

Functional Cookies

Our website and app require these cookies to function.

Functional cookies also enhance our website and app, adapting to your needs for easier browsing and booking. They enable essential security and accessibility features.

Specifically, these cookies help by:

  • Allowing our website and app to function, enabling account creation, login, and booking management.
  • Remembering your currency, language, past searches, and other preferences for efficient use of our website and app.
  • Cookies also remember your registration details, so you don't re-enter login info on each visit. (Passwords are encrypted.)

Analytical Cookies

These cookies help us understand how you use our website and app, allowing us to improve them and our services.

Specifically, these cookies help by:

  • Understanding how visitors and customers use our website and app.
  • Improving our website and app, ensuring content is engaging and useful.
  • Identifying functional and non-functional features on our website and app.
  • Tracking user interaction with our website and app after viewing online ads (including third-party ads).
  • Our business partners can see if customers use accommodation offers integrated into their sites.

These cookies collect data on pages viewed, entry/exit pages, platform type, email interactions, and timestamps. We also track other website/app activity like clicks, mouse movements, scroll paths, search keywords, and text input.

Commercial Cookies

We and our trusted partners use these cookies to collect your past usage information across various websites and apps.

Specifically, these cookies help by:

  • For example, based on your website visits and clicks, you're grouped by interests. We use this data to show personalized content (e.g., travel inspiration, specific accommodations) on our and other sites.
  • Displaying personalized, interest-based ads on our website, app, and other sites. This 'retargeting' is based on your browsing (e.g., searched locations, viewed accommodations, prices) and activity on other sites. These ads, seen on websites, apps, or emails, aim to encourage your return.
  • Our website and app integrate social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, LinkedIn) for liking and sharing content. These features use social media provider code, allowing third-party cookies on your device. These cookies may be functional or track your network visits, building profiles for personalized ads. This data also includes comparative data from other sites you visit via their network. For details on social media's use of personal data, refer to their Cookie/Privacy Statements: Facebook (incl. Instagram, Messenger, Audience Network), Snapchat, Pinterest, and Twitter. Statements may update.

We partner with trusted third parties for data collection and may share information like your email or phone number. These third parties may link your data with other collected info to create customer profiles or provide targeted ads. For details on their personal data handling, see: How Google uses personal data, Facebook data policy.

Non-Cookie Technology - Email Pixels

We may also use other technologies (e.g., pixels), not classified as cookies, as they don't access device information.

We sometimes place pixels in emails, like newsletters. A 'pixel' is a one-pixel electronic file in an email that loads upon opening. Email pixels help us track message delivery, read status, and clicked content.

We also receive this info for notification messages. This statistical feedback on your reading behaviour helps us optimize content for more useful information.
